My entire life has been serendipitously tied to the water, shaping my soul and being. Even my new home in Kentucky overlooks a pond fed by Elkhorn Creek's tributaries, reinforcing my connection to nature. So, it was only natural to draw inspiration from the sea and the natural world for my quilt design. Reminiscent of days spent by the coast, I chose blues, whites, oranges, and a splash of yellow to symbolize the sun. Though not an artist, I managed a child-like sketch, conveying my vision to my senior designer. I wanted the quilt to embody lines from Emerson's poem, "Merlin's Song," guiding me to live life to the fullest. Synchronicity struck when I found a vintage poster online that mirrored my design—a reminder of the countless inspirations surrounding us each day. My quilt, in essence, pays tribute to Emerson's transcendental principles, embracing nature's importance and the beauty of life beyond the ordinary. So, take a deep breath, immerse yourself in the wild air, and cherish every moment.
