Cloth produces a collection of lively printed linens designed in the 1970s by the late Michael Szell. Born in 1930 in Budapest, Szell, in the post war years, managed to move to Britain, where he had the opportunity to attend the royal college of Art, and open his own showroom in Chelsea in 1969. Cloth has selected 15 designs from an archive of more then 70, and the fabrics are hand printed by the same print house that originaly collaborated with Szell. While the patterns Szell created were originally produced in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s, they are as fresh and desirable today as they were when first introduced. "We followed his palette and came up with some new colourways, imagining what he would do if he was re-colouring the fabrics for a new generation", says Farr.
