Christopher Farr Cloth is renowned for producing a collection of lively printed linens, designed by the late Michael Szell in the 1970s. One of the most beloved and enduring designs is Carnival, a signature fabric that continues to capture attention today.
Born in 1930 in Budapest, Szell moved to Britain after the war, where he studied at the Royal College of Art London and opened his showroom in Chelsea in 1969. Christopher Farr Cloth has curated a selection of fifteen designs from Szell's extensive archive of more than seventy works. These timeless designs are hand-printed fabrics, produced by the same print house that originally collaborated with Szell.
Szell’s fabrics, first introduced in the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s, remain as fresh and desirable today as they were when they were first created. "We followed his palette and developed new colourways, reimagining how Szell would have approached fabric design for a new generation," says Michal Silver.
From luxury designer fabrics to handmade textiles, Christopher Farr Cloth continues to showcase authentic hand-printed fabrics that offer the perfect blend of historical charm and contemporary style, ideal for modern interiors.
