Crafted in Belgium at a third-generation weaving mill, Arta embodies the artistry and enduring craftsmanship for which the mill is renowned. Up close, the fabric reveals a complex interplay of colours and textures that captivates the eye, while stepping back transforms these intricate elements into a dynamic yet serene design. This captivating appearance mirrors the hazy, heat-blurred horizons of a hot summer's day, inviting warmth and tranquility into any space.
Black Mountain accurately represents Anni’s skill as a designer and weaver. The original work, ‘Untitled’ 1941, has a highly complex weaving pattern and combines five yarn materials: rayon, linen, cotton, wool, and jute. Refining and developing Anni’s original weave construction was the key to evolving the design, which has created this modern pattern.
Busy Lizzie, inspired by a mixture of vintage weaves, exudes an air of elegance & sophistication. The fabric’s soft yet durable composition allows it to transform furniture into statement pieces, while its geometric pattern adds a touch of splendour to any room. Kemp expresses her vision for Busy Lizzie, stating, “This is a great all-round weave that is strong enough to go on a Banquette and have several small children and dogs roaming around on it. It is colourful, buzzy, and fun. The name means that this fabric will be kept busy with wear and tear and plenty of rubbing.
Calvari features a timeless stripe design that seamlessly blends contemporary style with lasting durability, making it ideal for both indoor and outdoor use. Its subtle speckling adds rich texture and visual interest to the fabric. This woven stripe is a design staple - a fabric you will find yourself turning to time and time again.
The inspiration for Camino Real weave came from a preparatory study in the 1960s. Anni was commissioned to produce a wall hanging installation for the Camino Real Hotel in Mexico. Our challenge was to deconstruct the drawing and then convert it into a woven design with the same level of detail that Anni would have applied to the final work. The yarn colours were taken from the comparative picture, using the same blue tones and rich terracotta colours.
