The Cactus Flower Embroidered Cushion – Ruby Editions 1 & 2 brings together bold modernist design and expressive handwork, transforming textile into a collectible object. Featuring Cactus Flower Printed Linen a vibrant design by Commune for Christopher Farr Cloth, the composition celebrates the striking geometry and vitality of the cactus bloom. Rendered in rich ruby, pink and blue tones, the pattern carries a confident, Bauhaus-influenced rhythm, where form, colour and structure come together with clarity and energy.
Each cushion is hand embroidered by Alice Kettle, whose intuitive, gestural stitching reinterprets the printed design with a painterly sensibility. Working in cotton thread, she traces and responds to the graphic forms, layering movement, texture and narrative across the surface. No two are alike; each piece becomes a singular, collectible work, defined by the rhythm of the artist’s hand.
The reverse, in Soprano Natural linen, offers a neutral, textural counterpoint, an intentional pause to the vibrancy of the front. The cushion is framed with Vertelli Rosa piping, a finely drawn edge that introduces a gentle yet vivid accent, enhancing the palette while maintaining a tailored, considered finish.
Presented as Edition 1 and Edition 2, these cushions move beyond decoration into the realm of the collectible, objects that embody craftsmanship, artistic dialogue and enduring design.
