HELD OVER WATER QUILT
Held Over Water is a quilt that weaves together the past and present, inspired by Fogo Island and its rich Newfoundland and Labrador heritage. The design reflects the region's tradition of building houses, stages, and stores on stilts—structures that protect against rising waters, offer breathtaking vistas, and allow buildings to nestle against the rocky coastline. Stages, once vital as transitionary spaces between land and sea, provided shelter from the elements. In a similar way, quilts offer comfort and security, combining utilitarian warmth with aesthetic beauty. While stages may no longer serve their original purpose, the iconic stilts of the Fogo Island Inn continue to support and uplift the community, creating new opportunities for the people of Fogo Island.

THE INSPIRATION Fogo Island has centuries-old traditions of quilting, knitting and rug hooking. These skills, born of necessity, have been passed across generations and tell stories of place. A new generation of quilters is taking the mantle and fusing the tradition of an economy of materials with new patterns that imbue a sense of meaning and storytelling in their designs.
THE DESIGNER Our edited collection of accessories is carefully sourced in-house, with a focus on quality and design integrity, bringing the Cloth aesthetic into your home. From rustic ceramics to linen throws, quilts made from remnant fabrics, and pillows, our range is constantly evolving. We are driven by a passion for discovery, using the finest natural fibres and collaborating with skilled artisans.
