The Travelling Light Embroidered Cushion – Terracotta Editions 1 & 2 is a richly expressive textile work, where Kit Kemp’s globally inspired design language meets the intuitive hand of Alice Kettle. Printed on linen, Travelling Light unfolds in rhythmic, repeating motifs, its geometry echoing nomadic traditions and the movement of pattern across cultures. In this terracotta colourway, the palette is warm and earthen, evoking sunbaked landscapes and the folkloric richness of worldly craft traditions.
Each cushion is hand embroidered by Alice Kettle, whose gestural stitching brings a new dimension to the design. Working in cotton thread, she responds instinctively to the printed ground, tracing, layering and interrupting the pattern with fluid marks that introduce depth, energy and narrative. The result is a one-of-a-kind piece, where print and embroidery exist in dialogue, and no two editions are ever the same.
The reverse, in Bruges Natural linen, the same ground as the Travelling Light base, offers a neutral, tactile continuity. The cushion is edged with Vertelli Rosso piping, a vivid red line that frames the composition and subtly echoes the embroidered accents, enhancing the warmth and vibrancy of the overall palette.
Presented as Edition 1 and Edition 2, these cushions move beyond decoration into the realm of the collectible, objects that celebrate craftsmanship, cultural reference and artistic expression.
