What are the hanging instructions for your wallcoverings?

We strongly recommend that all of our clients read our ‘Wallpaper Hanging Instructions’ before instructing an installer. These are available via the ‘Technical Sheet’ download link on each product page. The information these contain, might assist your choice of adhesive and will highlight important decisions that may need to be taken before installation can begin. These instructions are also provided with every wallpaper delivery.

How do I calculate how much wallpaper I need?

Most of our wallpapers are available to buy by the metre to reduce on wastage. Our step-by-step instructions on calculating wallpaper quantities will assist you on ordering the correct quantity required.

Which Adhesive do you recommend for your wallcoverings?

For non-woven wallpaper, we recommend Beeline Heavy Grade, which is applied by pasting on the wall. For Paper-backed Vinyl Wallpapers and Grass Cloth on Non-woven Wallpapers we recommend Henkel Metylan Strong Glue for Heavy, Special and Vinyl Wallpaper, this is applied by pasting to the back of the wallpaper. More information is included in our Wallpaper Hanging Instructions available to download on each individual product page.

What do you advise for the cleaning and maintenance of your wallcoverings?

For Non-woven wallpaper we do not recommend any cleaning of our hand printed wallpapers as they are delicate and unique. For a more durable finish, Polyvine Decorators Varnish is a revolutionary water-based varnish for protection of a wide range of decorative surfaces. The varnish protects against water, mild abrasion and discolouring. Available on Amazon or Polyvine.com in three finishes: Satin, Gloss and Dead Flat.

For vinyl wallcoverings - please follow the advice as per the table below:

Do I need to use lining paper and are there any particular lining papers that you would recommend?

We would recommend a good quality, 800 or 1000 grade lining paper

What do you advise for the cleaning and maintenance of your printed fabrics?

We recommend dry clean only for all our printed linens. Weekly light vacuuming is desirable to remove dirt and dust particles and greatly extends the life of the fabric. Under conditions of normal wear, annual or semi-annual cleaning will preserve and enhance the upholstery.

Please note, the vast majority of our prints have very good resistance to being dry-cleaned in Perchloroethylene and a spot test is recommended before proceeding, since dry cleaners are likely to be using differing times, temperatures and purity values for this process. We are aware that a small amount of dispersant/water combination is often used by dry cleaners to boost the washing efficiency of the solvent and the actual quality and quantity used could in certain circumstances have an adverse effect on the dry cleaning resistance.

Are your fabrics suitable for upholstery?

Yes the majority are available for upholstery, please discuss your requirements with our dedicated team

Can I use your indoor prints, outdoors?

All Indoor fabrics can be treated for outdoor use, please discuss your requirements with our dedicated team

What is a Martindale Rub Test?

A Martindale Rub Test measures the durability of a fabric for upholstery, this informs how and where the fabric should be used.
