Christopher Farr Cloth is famed for producing a collection of lively printed linens designed in the 1970s by the late Michael Szell. These include Carnival, one of our favoured and enduring designs.
Born in 1930 in Budapest, Szell, in the post-war years, moved to Britain, where he attended the Royal College of Art and opened his showroom in Chelsea in 1969. Christopher Farr Cloth has selected fifteen designs from an archive of more than seventy of Szell's designs. The fabrics are hand-printed by the same print house that originally collaborated with Szell. While the patterns Szell created were originally produced in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s, they are as fresh and desirable today as they were when first introduced. "We followed his palette and came up with some new colourways, imagining what he would do if he were re-colouring the fabrics for a new generation", says Michal Silver.
To celebrate the coronation of His Majesty King Charles III, Christopher Farr Cloth reimagines a design from the archive of renowned designer Michael Szell. The Richmond cushion is inspired by Szell’s original textile design, created during his tenure as an interior designer for the British Royal Family. Produced in a limited edition collection, the Richmond cushion in dark indigo and hot pink serves as the perfect memento for this historic occasion, blending heritage with contemporary luxury. A symbol of British design excellence, this cushion evokes royal elegance with a modern twist.
In the US and EU, cushions are sold by the cover only, while UK orders include the cushion inserts. Actual cushion appearance may differ from product images shown.
Cushion panels are cut at random from the fabric. If you have a specific cushion placement in mind, we offer a bespoke service to ensure the desired section of the pattern is highlighted. Please note that this may impact pricing and delivery lead times. We recommend contacting us before placing your order to discuss your request.
